✨ 4 Questions with D1 Pilot Lukas Dietrich!
Besides winning the F5J European Champion title in 2026, Lukas is also passionate about F3K! Let’s get to know him a little better. ✈️
1️⃣ Can you introduce yourself?
Hi, I’m Lukas, 20 years old, from Munich in southern Germany.
2️⃣ How did you get into RC flying?
I was about five when I first saw a model plane at a neighbor’s house. When we moved to a town south of Munich when I was eight, there was a model airfield just 10 minutes away. I spent the whole summer there – and the addiction has never stopped! 😄
3️⃣ How long have you been flying D1 models?
I got my first D1 in early 2024. Since then, it’s probably the plane I’ve spent the most time flying!
4️⃣ Do you fly competitions or mostly for fun?
I fly competitions for fun!
🏆 Bonus: What’s your most memorable D1 moment?
The Brezen Cup Munich 2026!
The final group of the day faced some really tricky conditions. No sunshine, barely any wind, and very little lift. Many pilots struggled and had to land much earlier than expected. After six minutes of working some promising air, I returned to the field and managed to scratch out the remaining four minutes, staying low over a small tree line — completely on my own.
It was amazing to see how just a little wind and a tree line could keep the D1S flying for so long!
👏 Thanks for sharing your story, Lukas! Wishing you the best of luck at the F3K World Championships next year! 🏆
