Description
The origins of the The One Star (D1S) trace back to 2019, when Arijan introduced the so-called “Mercedes” tail on the F5J Explorer. From the very first tests, it was clear that this tail configuration and its mixing offered exceptional handling and unlocked new possibilities for maneuvering.
Following the 2023 F3K World Championships, we began exploring ways to improve the D1. One of the key ideas was a new tail design. Over the winter, after numerous trials, we discovered that the new tail delivered more benefits than we had anticipated. Along with the well-known improvements in flight characteristics, launch stability also increased-resulting in higher launch performance.
By April, we were ready and prepared models for three pilots who would fly the D1S exclusively at the upcoming European Championship. Competing in Poland, we received the first real competition feedback. The results were promising: Arijan flew cleanly through the long and demanding preliminary rounds, finishing 1st. Cederic secured a spot in the flyoff in 10th place, while Marko narrowly missed it on the final day, finishing 13th. In the flyoff, Arijan placed 5th and Cederic 7th.
Afterwards, more pilots began flying the D1S. Along the way, we fine-tuned the tail design, with the main focus on the 2025 F3K World Championship in Tarp, Germany. There, five senior pilots competed with the model. Four-Cederic, Thomas, Arijan, and Marko-reached the flyoff. In the end, Arijan claimed the Vice World Champion title, while Marko was crowned World Champion.
